HCSD Update Regarding Law Enforcement Investigation and Early Dismissal

Hancock School District officials have remained in close contact with New York State Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Hancock Police Department throughout the afternoon and evening.
Just a short time ago, we were alerted that the police investigation that led to a series of proactive safety measures at the school today has been peacefully resolved.
As previously indicated, law enforcement assured us that the investigation was focused on a parent or guardian in our school community, and not a specific threat to any student, faculty, staff member, or school facility. The District stands by the precautionary decisions taken today to ensure the safety of our school community.
All school activities on Wednesday will begin on time and continue as scheduled.
Given the disruptive nature of Tuesday’s activities, we have arranged for counseling services and a Hancock Police Department presence to ensure Wednesday’s school day can have a productive start, and to answer any questions from parents, guardians, students, faculty, or staff.
